 Commercial Energy Performance Audit
The first step to ensure energy efficiency is to complete ESG Energy's Commercial Building Audit Form, or CBAF. This 6-page self-audit document is designed for owners, office managers, facility managers, custodial staff and engineers who want to learn how to improve the energy efficiency and cut costs for a commercial or municipal building. The second step is an onsite Energy Audit by an accredited energy analyst, also known as a HERS Rater. Specially trained to understand the complex interactions between mechanical systems, utility use and the building envelope, a HERS Rater is uniquely qualified to diagnose key issues that can affect durability, energy efficiency, safety and overall health. Once they have uncovered a problem, your Rater will prescribe upgrades you can make to improve the comfort and quality of your building as well as save you money on future utility bills.
Does the energy rater also install the recommended upgrades? To avoid a conflict of interest, HERS Raters are not allowed to install upgrades they may be rating. They are third-party assessors and verifiers, only.
